CCH Acoustic was founded in 1995 after IR Chuah serving more than 30 year with RTM. Ir. Chuah Chin Hoon, AMN, had served in the Department of Broadcasting or RTM (Radio TV Malaysia), for 30 years as a broadcasting engineer since 1962, until he retired in 1992. Prior to his retirement, his last post held in the RTM was the Director of Engineering in the Design & Development Division, responsible for all the new radio & tv stations in the whole country.
After his retirement, in 1993 he was engaged by the Singapore Telecom International to be their Broadcast Consultant to help them setup a Dual Channel FM Nationwide Radio Station, both studio and transmission centres, at Sri Lanka. The whole project was completed within six months and was officially on air in Dec 1993.
In 1973/74, he was selected by the Government to do a M. Sc course in Applied Acoustics in Chelsea College, University of London, under Professor Dr. L. G. Leventhall. In the same year, he was sent to the BBC Training Centre, U.K., to attend a Color TV course.
Over the past 4 decades, he had undertaken and completed about 100 designs in Acoustics, Broadcasting and Audio-visual systems. In addition, he had so far published 19 articles concerning his works in these fields in the local and overseas engineering magazines. He has also conducted many acoustics seminars and training course in “Sound Reinforcement System” in Malaysia and overseas as well. On top of this, he also used to give public lectures in Room Acoustics and Sound Reinforcement System. The most recent one is the public lecture given at National Science Centre, Kuala Lumpur, on 30 March 2005 with the topic “Basic Room Acoustics”, organized by the Malaysian Senior Scientists Association, of which he is one of the founding members.
In 1987, he was bestowed by His Highness the King of Malaysia with an award of A.M.N. to appreciate his services and contributions to the country.
In 1998, when the 16th Commonwealth Games was held in Malaysia, he was invited to serve as an official Acoustics Consultant for all the 23 venues.
